The Bengaluru Traffic Police initiated a lane discipline campaign on Tuesday (July 16) along Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) Road, aimed at curbing congestion and preventing accidents.
Officials stated that all drivers on KIA Road (BB Road – NH-44) within Bengaluru City Police jurisdiction must adhere to designated lanes, with penalties for violations.
Lane discipline guidelines for Bengaluru airport road
Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) are mandated to use the leftmost lane, while the middle lane is reserved for fast-moving vehicles, allowing overtaking exclusively on the far-right lane.
MN Anucheth, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Bengaluru City, emphasised that the initiative seeks to alleviate congestion, enhance traffic flow and safety, urging all road users to comply for safer and more efficient roads.
“This initiative aims to reduce congestion and accidents, enhance traffic flow and efficiency and ensure safety for all road users. We urge all road users to cooperate and follow these guidelines to make our roads safer and more efficient,” said MN Anucheth, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Bengaluru City.
