The Railway Ministry has conveyed plans to introduce a Vande Bharat Express train from Mangaluru to Goa by the end of October, BJP Karnataka unit president Nalin Kumar Kateel informed on Saturday. Kateel stated that Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has personally assured the commencement of the new semi-high-speed train service from Mangaluru.

Kateel also revealed that the proposal for an early morning train from Subrahmanya Road station to Mangaluru and an evening train from Mangaluru to Subrahmanya Road has been approved.
Kateel further mentioned that an appeal has been submitted to the minister to relocate Mangaluru from the Palakkad division of Southern Railway to the Mysuru division of South West Railway (SWR).
During his recent meeting with the Railway Minister in New Delhi, MP Kateel said that he received a positive response regarding his request not to extend the Bengaluru-Kannur train up to Kochi, despite demands from Kerala.
