Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several railway projects from Ahmedabad and Gujarat. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, CM Bhupendra Patel and state BJP chief CR Paatil were also seen in attendance. These projects amount to over Rs 85,000 crore. The projects include the new Phaltan-Baramati line, railway workshops, loco sheds, Electric Traction System upgradation work, and pit lines/coaching depots.

Additionally, the PM will also dedicate two new sections of the Dedicated Freight Corridor between New Khurja to Sahnewal section of Eastern DFC and New Makarpura to New Gholvad section of Western DFC; Western DFC’s Operation Control Center, Ahmedabad.

Inauguration of Freight Trains and Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras

PM Modi also inaugurated freight trains on the Dedicated Freight Corridor and 50 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras at Railway Stations, providing affordable and quality generic medicines to the people.

Dedication of Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminals and Railway Infrastructural Developments

Furthermore, the Prime Minister dedicated 51 Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminals to enhance the movement of goods between different modes of transportation. He also inaugurated 1045 Rkm of Automatic Signaling, digital controlling of railway stations, Rail Coach Restaurants, One Station One Product Stalls, and solar-powered stations/buildings at 975 locations.

Flagging Off New Vande Bharat Trains and Extensions

The Prime Minister also flagged off ten new Vande Bharat trains, along with the extension of four existing routes. These trains are going to connect key cities such as Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Secunderabad, Visakhapatnam, Mysuru, Chennai, Patna, Lucknow, New Jalpaiguri, Puri, Dehradun, Bengaluru, Ranchi, Varanasi, Khajuraho, and Delhi.
