An Indian student was denied a US student visa for the second time despite securing admission to a better university and being awarded a full-tuition scholarship.
The student, who was applying for a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management, appeared for her second F-1 visa interview on July 30. According to a post shared online, she hoped that the improved academic offer and financial support would strengthen her case. However, the visa was once again denied.
What happened during the visa interview?
During the interview, the visa officer asked about her major and asked what had changed since her last application, the student replied that she had been accepted into a better university and had received a full-tuition scholarship. She explained that the only remaining expenses were related to living costs.
Despite this, the visa officer responded by saying, “Sorry, our visa rules are very strict,” and rejected the application without further questions.
“I have a better admit and don’t even need to pay tuition now what more can I do?” the student wrote, seeking advice from others in similar situations.
‘They think you can’t afford’
Netizens are reacting on the post. A user said, “They think you can’t afford so you need to show you can afford it without working illegally. Is it a decent university or a diploma mill?.” Another noted, “Not surprising it was denied as barely anything changed since your last denial. The main thing they want to see is changes in your circumstances that will make sure you go back to your home country after your studies. As you’ve not managed your ties, I’m assuming you have little to none.” “Honestly studying in USA wont change your life probably unless u are in for the “experience,” claimed another.
“Sounds like he just didn’t like you. Our visa rules are as strict as the VO wants them to be. It was a bad answer that means “yep, we got it right the first time.”The university also matters. It’s hard to know whether how you presented yourself or where your I-20 was from were issues,” noted a user.
