A Reddit user has sparked debate online after sharing a detailed account of their struggle to obtain a Polish Schengen visa. Despite having stable finances, prior European travel history, and a partner in Poland, the applicant’s request was rejected, leaving them frustrated with what they described as a “deliberately complicated” process.

Appointment Slots Allegedly Controlled by Bots

According to the user, securing a visa appointment itself was the first major hurdle. They explained that creating an account on the portal took more than a week due to repeated technical errors. When they finally gained access, they found no open slots available.

Left with limited options, the student turned to a broker who managed to secure an appointment after two weeks — but the delay disrupted their planned travel schedule.

Rejection Despite Submitted Documents

The applicant said they submitted all required financial documents, flight and hotel bookings, and an invitation letter from their partner in Poland. However, because the invitation was not government-signed, the application faced an “extreme likelihood of getting a rejection.”

Calling the process “devastating,” the Redditor said all the time, money, and effort invested had gone to waste.

“Better to Apply Somewhere Else”

Now seeking alternatives, the student said they are applying through another European country in hopes of still visiting their partner. They also issued a cautionary note for others considering the same route.

“If you ask my sincere opinion, it’s not even worth it — just apply somewhere else,” they wrote. “The Polish visa system seems deliberately complicated for some applicants.”

The post has since gained traction on Reddit, with several users echoing similar frustrations over Schengen visa appointments.
