Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Mumbai on Saturday to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for various projects totaling approximately Rs 29,400 crore. This significant development was announced in an official release from the Prime Minister’s Office.

5:30 PM – NESCO Exhibition Centre, Goregaon: The Prime Minister will kick off the event at the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, where he will launch multiple infrastructure projects related to roads, railways, and ports. This initiative is set to enhance Mumbai’s connectivity and infrastructure significantly.
7:00 PM – INS Secretariat, Bandra Kurla Complex: Following the launch at Goregaon, Prime Minister Modi will head to the Indian News Service (INS) Secretariat in Bandra Kurla Complex to inaugurate the INS Towers. This new building will serve as a modern office space for INS members, acting as a central hub for the newspaper industry in Mumbai.
Key Projects to Be Launched
Thane Borivali Tunnel Project: One of the major highlights of the visit is the foundation stone laying for the Thane Borivali Tunnel Project, valued at Rs 16,600 crore. This 11.8 km Twin Tube Tunnel will create a direct connection between Western Express Highway at Borivali and Thane Ghodbander Road. The tunnel will run beneath the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, cutting the journey from Thane to Borivali by 12 km and saving approximately one hour of travel time.
Goregaon Mulund Link Road (GMLR) Project: The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the Goregaon Mulund Link Road (GMLR) Project, worth over Rs 6,300 crore. This 6.65 km road will provide connectivity from Western Express Highway at Goregaon to Eastern Express Highway at Mulund, facilitating direct access to the new proposed airport in Navi Mumbai and the Pune Mumbai Expressway.
Kalyan Yard Remodelling and Gati Shakti Multi Modal Cargo Terminal: In Navi Mumbai, the Prime Minister will initiate the Kalyan Yard Remodelling and the Gati Shakti Multi Modal Cargo Terminal at Turbhe. The Kalyan Yard project will help segregate long-distance and suburban traffic, enhancing the yard’s capacity to handle more trains and reducing congestion. The Gati Shakti terminal, spanning over 32,600 sq meters, will boost local employment and serve as an additional terminal for handling cement and other commodities.
Railway Enhancements: Prime Minister Modi will also dedicate new platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and extend platforms 10 and 11 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Station. These extensions will accommodate longer trains, increasing passenger capacity and improving operational efficiency.
Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana: Additionally, the Prime Minister will launch the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana with an outlay of around Rs 5,600 crore. This internship program aims to address youth unemployment by providing skill enhancement and industry exposure for youth aged 18 to 30 years.
