Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Friday and Saturday (March 1 and 2) inaugurate, dedicate, and lay the foundation stone for a variety of developmental projects spanning across Jharkhand and West Bengal.

Inauguration of Development Projects in Jharkhand

In Sindri, Jharkhand, a public event will mark the inauguration of various developmental initiatives in the fertiliser, rail, power, and coal sectors. The highlight will be the dedication of the Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Ltd (HURL) Sindri Fertiliser Plant, a significant step towards achieving self-sufficiency in the urea sector. This project, with a cost exceeding Rs 8,900 crore, is anticipated to contribute approximately 12.7 LMT per annum of indigenous urea production, thus benefiting farmers nationwide.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will unveil a slew of rail projects valued at over Rs 17,600 crore in Jharkhand. These projects aim to enhance rail services and foster socio-economic development across the state. Furthermore, he will initiate three train services, including the Deoghar-Dibrugarh route and the Tatanagar-Badampahar MEMU service, alongside a long-haul freight train from Shivpur station.

In Jharkhand’s power sector, PM Modi will inaugurate Unit 1 (660 MW) of North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project (STPP), Chatra, a project costing more than Rs 7500 crore. This initiative is expected to bolster power supply, create employment opportunities, and contribute to the state’s overall socio-economic growth.

Moreover, significant projects related to the coal sector will also be dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister in Jharkhand.

Inauguration of Development Projects in West Bengal

Subsequently, in Arambagh, Hooghly, West Bengal, PM Modi will participate in another public event, where he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple developmental projects worth over Rs 7,200 crore. These projects span sectors like rail, ports, oil pipeline, LPG supply, and wastewater treatment, focusing on bolstering infrastructure and facilitating economic growth.

Key highlights include the inauguration of the Haldia-Barauni Crude Oil Pipeline, Indian Oil’s LPG bottling plant in Kharagpur, and various wastewater treatment and sewerage projects in West Bengal, funded by the World Bank.

This two-day visit by the Prime Minister to Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Bihar on March 1 and 2 underscores the government’s commitment to advancing comprehensive development across the nation.
