Oil India and TotalEnergies signed a ‘Technology Service Agreement’ to enhance the strategic collaboration in exploration activities across deep and ultra-deepwater offshore regions of India’s sedimentary basins. The agreement also covers stratigraphic wells as mandated by the Government of India, OIL India said in an official statement.

This agreement covers the appraisal programme of gas find in the shallow Offshore Blocks of the Andaman Basin, exploration in OIL’s OALP-IX Ultradeep water blocks in the Mahanadi and Krishna-Godavari basins, and assessment of future opportunities under OALP X and upcoming  bid rounds. It also includes support for the drilling initiatives of stratigraphic wells in offshore Category-II and III basins.

Agreement to help optimise synergies

The signing took place in the presence of Pankaj Jain, Secretary, Ministry of Natural Gas. OIL’s Chairman and MD Dr. Ranjit Rath and the company’s Additional secretary Praveen Mal Khanooja were also present alongside. 

The agreement was signed by Dr. Sankaran Ratnam, CMD, TotalEnergies Gas&Power Projects India, and OIL’s Director (E&D) Saloma Yomdo, in the presence of dignitaries and senior officials from both the companies. 

“The agreement puts in place a framework to leverage TotalEnergies’ world-class expertise in Deep & Ultradeep water exploration value chain across OIL’s current & future Offshore portfolio,” the company said.
