IDBI Bank‘s standalone net profit rose 16.75 per cent year-on-year to Rs 2,007 crore in the first quarter of FY26, up from Rs 1,719 crore in the same period last year. Interest earned by the bank improved to Rs 7,021 crore, as compared to Rs 6,666 crore in the June quarter FY25.

1. Net Interest Income drops 2 per cent to Rs 3,166 crore
The LIC-controlled bank reported a decline in Net Interest Income (NII), which fell to Rs 3,166 crore in the quarter, compared to Rs 3,233 crore in Q1 of the previous year. Its Net Interest Margin (NIM) also declined by 50 basis points to 3.68 per cent, down from 4.18 per cent in Q1FY25.
2. IDBI Bank’s asset Quality improved
The bank’s asset quality improved as gross non-performing assets (GNPAs) declined to 2.93 per cent as of June 30, 2025, compared to 3.87 per cent a year earlier. Net NPAs, or bad loans, came down slightly to 0.21 per cent from 0.23 per cent.
3. IDBI Bank’s Q1FY26: Operating profit grows 13.45 per cent
The bank’s operating profit rose 13.45 per cent to Rs 2,354 crore in the June quarter, up from Rs 2,075 crore last year. Total income increased to Rs 8,458 crore compared to Rs 7,471 crore in the corresponding quarter of FY25. Other income surged to Rs 1,437 crore from Rs 805 crore in the year-ago period, reflecting better recoveries and fee-based income.
4. Retail loans form 70 per cent of gross advances
The bank’s CASA (current account and savings account) ratio stood at 44.65 per cent, compared to 48.57 per cent in Q1FY25. Retail loans formed 70 per cent of the gross advances portfolio, while the remaining 30 per cent came from corporates.
The bank maintained a high provision coverage ratio (PCR) of 99.31 per cent.
5. Capital adequacy ratio improves
IDBI Bank’s capital adequacy remained strong, with CRAR rising to 25.39 per cent from 22.42 per cent last year. Tier 1 capital stood at 23.71 per cent, and risk-weighted assets (RWA) stood at Rs 1.93 lakh crore.
During the quarter, the bank had signed an MoU with the Regional Cancer Centre in Thiruvananthapuram to upgrade equipment and enhance cancer treatment services.
