Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals has received a Rs 100.68 crore order from Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) for Off-grid Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems.
In a statement, the company said that it will design and manufacture 4500 pumping systems for MEDA. Further, the company stated that it will also be responsible for the installation, testing and commissioning and commissioning of pumping systems at various locations across Maharashtra.
Biggest solar pump order for Crompton Greaves
The company said that this is the largest pumping systems order it has ever received in the solar-water management segment. Rajat Chopra, Business Head – Home Electricals & Pumps at Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals, said that this milestone not only marks our largest solar pump order to date but also reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering reliable and high-performance pumping solutions tailored to the needs of farmers across India.
Empowering the farmers
Crompton Greaves has received the order under the PM-KUSUM scheme of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Under Component B of the scheme, the government is aiming to build 90 lakh off-grid water pumps for farmers. These water pumps rely on solar energy instead of conventional diesel pumps.
Crompton Greaves has said that in accordance with the contract, besides manufacturing and installation of the pump, the company will also be responsible for maintenance for a five-year period.
Eyes on orders from other states
The PM-KUSUM scheme is one of the biggest schemes of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, and it is being implemented across all states of the country. Due to the massive size of the scheme, every major pumping company is seeking a share of the opportunity.
Crompton Geaves has said that it is actively participating in the tender process in the states of Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh. While the company has received orders and has active operations in the first three states, mentioned above, it is looking to commence work in Madhya Pradesh
