Virat Kohli, ace cricketer and former Indian skipper, who recently broke Sachin Tendulkar’s ODI century record was spotted wearing a fitness band that does not have a display.
Virat Kohli scored his 50th century in ODI matches during the ICC World Cup 2023 semi finals that was being played against New Zealand. A fitness band with no display was spotted on the cricketer’s wrist. However, Virat is not the only one who wears this display-less fitness band. Many other top athletes wear this fitness band to keep track of their fitness and recovery.
This band was launched by a company named ‘Whoop’. This fitness tracker band differs from all other tracker bands as it does not have any display. Whoop has not yet been launched in India which produces these fitness tracker bands.
Will Ahmed is the CEO and Founder of Whoop which started in the year 2015 and launched its first Whoop 1.0 fitness band. It was in 2021 that the company launched the 4.0 version of the band. Whoop recently entered into a partnership with OpenAI after which they launched Whoop Coach.
Usually, the data measured by other fitness bands are not always accurate. However, Whoop claims that the health and fitness data tracked by Whoop Band is 99 per cent accurate.
This band tells the user real time stress score and is a recovery focused tracker. It also tells the athletes about the kind of improvement their body needs and the capability of their body to perform during the game.
While other fitness tracker bands show the hours of sleep required and the user’s sleep hours, this Whoop band has a sleep coach feature. The sleep coach feature tells about the amount of sleep required for the body to perform in its best capacity.
How much does it cost?
This display-less fitness tracker band is subscription based. The WHOOP 4.0 enables tracking of heart rate variability, temperature, respiration rate, blood oxygen level, calorie expenditure, and more. This fitness band gathers such data 100 times per second.
This band lacks a display but is wearable 24×7. It tracks sleep, daily energy expenditure, and recovery. Priced at $239 with a 12-month subscription, it’s unavailable in India.
The monthly subscription fee amounts to $30 and includes access to the WHOOP app, usable across all platforms: desktop, iOS, and Android.
Will Ahmed shared on social media platform X that users can instantly inquire about their fitness data and receive immediate responses. This device not only monitors activities and expended calories but also assesses readiness for upcoming events the following day. It provides insights into recovery rates, indicating daily expenditure and post-sleep recovery.
