According to Cointelegraph, about 25 people mentioned that about $4.4 million in crypto was drained from across 80 wallets. This incident is expected to occur due to a 2022 data breach that impacted LastPass, a password storage software.

Sources revealed that on October 27, 2023, ZachXBT, a pseudonymous on-chain researcher tweeted that they and Taylor Monahan, a MetaMask develope,r had tracked the fund movements. They are expected to have tracked at least 80 wallets compromised on October 25, 2023.

“Most, if not all, of the victims are longtime LastPass users and/or confirm having stored their [crypto wallet] keys/seeds in LastPass,” Monahan explained.

Furthermore, ZachXBT recently advised anyone who ever stored a wallet seed or private key in LastPass to “migrate your crypto assets immediately,” Cointelegraph concluded.
