Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong held a private dinner for the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, on Wednesday night prior to their official bilateral meetings tomorrow.

According to the MEA spokesperson, the famous Sri Temasek, a 19th-century bungalow designated as the prime minister’s official residence, was the venue for the Indian PM’s hosting by the Singaporean PM. “Fortifying bonds of friendship.PM @narendramodi warmly hosted by PM @LawrenceWongST at the iconic Sri Temasek in Singapore. An evening cherishing the deep and long-standing ties awaits,” the MEA tweet reads.

Posting a picture with PM Modi on X, formerly Twitter, Singaporean PM wrote, “Welcome PM @narendramodi to Singapore! Delighted to have the chance to catch up over a meal at the Istana, before the official meetings tomorrow.”

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Singapore for a two-day visit aimed at bolstering the strategic relationship, bringing in more investment from the Southeast Asian country and enhancing bilateral relations between India and Singapore. The prime minister of Singapore, Lawrence Wong, invited PM Modi on his fifth official state visit to the nation.

PM Modi is set to interact with three generations of Singapore’s leadership underlining the necessity of preserving consistency in bilateral partnerships.

On Thursday, Singapore’s Parliament will welcome PM Modi and he will later meet President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. The tour will include official meetings as well as an emphasis on strengthening relationships in the areas of advanced manufacturing, digitalisation, semiconductors, and sustainable development.

The prime minister is travelling to Singapore with National Security Advisor Ajit Dhoval and Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar.
