The Airbus C295 medium airlifter, has achieved a significant milestone as it has now garnered 300 orders across various transport and mission versions. This achievement comes on the heels of the Republic of Kazakhstan’s acquisition of a third aircraft for the Aviation Service of the National Security Committee.
India stands as the largest customer, with 56 aircraft ordered, the first of which was delivered in September 2023. Designed in Getafe, near Madrid in Spain, and assembled in Seville, southern Spain, its versatility, low cost, and high reliability have contributed to its global success story.
According to an official statement issued by the company on March 13, 2024, this milestone not only celebrates the success of the C295 but also underscores its vital role in meeting diverse operational needs worldwide.

This remarkable figure not only highlights the success of the Spanish and European aerospace industry but also solidifies the C295’s position as the indisputable leader in its segment, boasting a market share of over 80%. Currently, the C295 serves 41 operators from 37 countries across Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia, with 19 of them placing repeat orders.
The journey of the C295 began in 1996 when Construcciones Aeronáuticas (C.A.S.A.), the precursor to Airbus in Spain, decided to develop a slightly larger aircraft with 50 percent more capabilities than the CN235, following the success of the C212 and CN235. Since its maiden flight in 1997, with the Spanish Air and Space Force as its inaugural customer, the C295 has soared to prominence.
