President Droupadi Murmu is set to inaugurate the two-day International Conference-cum-Exhibition on ‘Aerospace & Aviation in 2047’ in New Delhi on November 18, 2023. This event is organized by the Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI) to mark its 75 years of excellence and delve into India’s aerospace journey, technological strides, and the impactful role of visionaries in the field.
The conference aims to highlight India’s accomplishments over the past 75 years, with a particular focus on achievements, technological advancements, and the role of key visionaries who have shaped the nation’s aerospace landscape.
The event, expected to draw 1,500 delegates, will comprise dignitaries, international experts, scientists, industrialists, academia, start-ups, and students. Over 200 industries and MSMEs, including more than 75 start-ups, will showcase their indigenous capabilities at the exhibition. The inaugural session is set to unveil a Compendium on 75 years of aerospace & aviation journey in India and a Vision Document 2047, offering insights into the trajectory of the aerospace industry.
The inauguration, where President Droupadi Murmu will be the Chief Guest, is expected to include Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Road Transport & Highways, General (Dr) VK Singh (Retd), and Raksha Rajya Mantri Ajay Bhatt as Guests of Honour.
Technical sessions featuring speakers from renowned entities such as Safran, Rolls Royce, Lockheed Martin, MIT USA, and Cranefield UK, alongside Indian experts, promise a comprehensive exploration of the subject matter. Additionally, the conference will include a start-up challenge spanning the nation, with finalists presenting innovative ideas and products, envisioning India’s aerospace growth by 2047.
Established in 1948, AeSI has played a pivotal role in advancing aeronautical sciences and aircraft engineering in India. With luminaries like Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Dr Satish Dhawan, and Dr VK Saraswat as past Presidents, AeSI has been a catalyst for India’s aerospace industry growth, fostering collaborations between the government, private sector, and academia. Currently led by President Dr G Satheesh Reddy and President-Elect S Somanath, Chairman of ISRO, AeSI continues to uphold its commitment to promoting and advancing aerospace and aviation knowledge in the country.
