At the first ever, immersion programme titled ‘A Week of Discovery: Academic, Industry & Cultural Immersion’ for students of FGV EAESP Sao Paulo School of Business Administration, Brazil organized by MDI Gurgaon, the visiting students were provided first hand exposure to India’s diverse business landscape. The weeklong programme emphasized holistic learning experiences spanning academic, industry, and cultural dimensions for the students from Brazil.
The programme organised by MDI’s Global Engagements Office which concluded recently delved into critical business topics and integrated industry visits tailored to students’ interests. Cultural experiences enriched the learning journey, allowing participants to immerse themselves in India’s vibrant heritage.
The programme was inaugurated by Ambassador R Vishwanathan, former Indian diplomat, who had served as Ambassador to Venezuela, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, Consul General in Sao Paulo and Head of Latin America Division in the Ministry of External Affairs.
An expert on Latin America, Ambassador Vishwanathan highlighted the importance of India in the emerging geo-political landscape and underscored India’s contribution to global business.
During the inaugural address, Dr Arvind Sahay, Director-MDI, commented “Through this curated immersion programme, the objective was to provide Brazilian students insights into the dynamic Indian business landscape, cultural practices, and academic nuances of India. By exploring diverse topics such as sustainability, digital innovation, market entry, and social enterprise management, the programme aimed at deepening their understanding and also forging connections across continents.”
“At MDI, our purpose is to cultivate global perspectives and foster cross-cultural collaborations, empowering future leaders to navigate complexities and drive meaningful impact in a rapidly evolving world of business. This programme has been one step in that direction,” Dr Sahay stated.
Dr Umesh Mukhi, who led the student delegation, stressed that “Immersive experience gives a crash course on overall aspects of Indian Economy. At FGV EAESP we uniquely developed this pedagogical model to tackle the knowledge and perception gap between Brazil and India.”
According to him, “Business schools in India and Latin America should promote such programmes which can create cultural and business competencies among students who can be assets for companies operating in the region.”
