To commemorate the 76th anniversary of Jammu and Kashmir’s integration into the Indian Union and the Diamond Jubilee celebration of Air Force Station Jammu, a mesmerizing air show and Air Awareness Campaign are set to take the skies by storm. This spectacular event, jointly organized by the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Government of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, promises a thrilling spectacle.
Among the star attractions are the world-renowned IAF Air Warrior Drill team (AWDT), the fearless Aakashganga Daredevil Skydiving team, the dazzling Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT), the agile Mi-17 1V helicopters, and the melodious IAF band.
From September 21st and 22nd, 2023, these extraordinary teams will display their skills at Air Force Station Jammu.
The main attraction of this event is a breathtaking aerial display featuring nine aircraft, including the Hawk Mk-132 and the Mi-17 1V medium lift helicopters, demonstrating slithering and Small Team Insertion and Extraction techniques. Witness free fall para jumpers and precision drill movements executed flawlessly by the AWDT.
SKAT, also known as the 52 Squadron of the IAF, formed in 1996, has showcased its expertise in over 600 displays across India and beyond, making it one of the few nine-aircraft display teams globally.
The 130 Helicopter Unit, stationed in Jammu, will demonstrate helicopter operations alongside the Garud Commandos of the IAF.
The Air Warrior Drill Team “Subroto” (AWDT), founded in 2004, is the ceremonial drill team of the Indian Air Force, setting unparalleled standards in precision exhibition drill.
Akash Ganga, the 14-member skydiving team of the Indian Air Force, was established in August 1987. Its name translates to “The Ganga of the sky” in Hindi, evoking the majesty of the Milky Way.
These teams and air warriors take immense pride in upholding the IAF’s highest standards and traditions, emphasizing teamwork, professional excellence, and mutual trust.
Beyond the breathtaking performances, this event aims to inspire youth to consider a career in the elite Indian Air Force while raising awareness among the general public about aviation hazards and safety measures.
