ZEE5, an Indian content platform has a partnership with the Calcutta Football League, a football competition in West Bengal organised by the Indian Football Association. From what it is understood, the fans can now stream all the matches live on ZEE5. As per the claims made by the company, this collaboration is aimed at captive audiences, especially of East Bengal and Mohun Bagan. “ This partnership not only highlights ZEE5’s commitment to deliver high-quality sports content but also celebrates the rich football culture of Bengal. It exemplifies our dedication to pushing boundaries and ensuring a comprehensive viewing experience for our viewers.” Manish Kalra, chief business officer, ZEE5 India, said.
Reportedly, The Calcutta Football League was kicked off on 27th June and it will continue till 30th September. A total of 26 teams is divided into two groups of 13 each who will be playing a total of 199 matches. The tournament includes teams lik Mohun Bagan SG, East Bengal FC, Mohammedan Sporting Club, and Diamond Harbour FC, amongst others. It is also mentioned in the report that, the matches would be streamed both in Bangla and English commentary. In addition to that, ZEE5 will offer video on demand (VOD) content, showcasing the best goals and key moments from the matches. “We are thrilled that this deal has come to fruition, as it marks the first time the Calcutta Football League will be broadcasted on a major platform like ZEE5. This is a significant step forward for the league and its fans,” Anirban Dutta, secretary, Indian Football Association, said.
Earlier, the football league used to be covered by regional channels like Jalsha Movies, News 18 Bangla, Kolkata TV, and Sadhna News among others. The league with a rich history is sponsored by the Sharchi Group.
