In the latest turn of events, YouTube rolled out a ‘Pause ads’ that will play when users pause on a video. A subsidiary of Google, The company confirmed that this feature has been rolled out to all advertisers. According to the development posted by The Verge, when a user pauses a video, an ad will pop up on the side of the screen.
“This is seamless for viewers and allows them to learn more about a brand. It’s been a beneficial update for the entire YouTube ecosystem and one of the elements of the modern CTV ads experience,” a Google spokesperson said.
Although YouTube advocated that this update would not be intrusive to the users’ viewing experience, this update is being looked at as another successor of YouTube’s other feature that didn’t let users skip ads.
“We have seen both strong advertiser and strong viewer response,” a YouTube representative told The Verge. From what is understood, the only way to escape the ad frenzy is to subscribe to YouTube Premium, plans which start at Rs 149 per month and go to Rs 299 per month.
