Swiggy, a leading on-demand convenience platform in India, has launched a nationwide road safety charter called ‘Delivering Safely’ to enhance its commitment to the safety of its delivery partners.

With over 3 lakh delivery partners across 600 cities, Swiggy aims to ensure a safer environment for its workforce, covering a significant distance of 3.6 billion kilometers annually.

Efforts to raise awareness among delivery partners have been ongoing, facilitating easier reporting of safety incidents and swift responses from Swiggy.

The Delivering Safely charter includes measures such as accidental medical coverage of Rs 2 lakh and Rs 10 lakh death cover, with over Rs 31 crores disbursed in insurance claims in FY23.

Swiggy also provides a free, on-demand ambulance service, boasting an average response time of 11 minutes, along with loss of pay support to ensure continued income during recovery periods.

Additionally, road safety awareness workshops are conducted in collaboration with state traffic police departments to promote safe driving practices among delivery partners.

Access to advanced road safety gear such as reflector helmets, jackets, and raincoats is provided, along with an ongoing project leveraging advanced telematics to monitor and improve driver behavior for enhanced safety.

Through a comprehensive road safety charter that spans educating, energising, and equipping our fleet with the right training and gear, Swiggy will continue to deliver safety for our partners,” Rohit Kapoor, CEO- Food Marketplace, Swiggy said.

As the first activity under this formalised charter, Swiggy conducted a road safety program in Jaipur today to create awareness of road safety regulations and accident prevention strategies. Held in the presence of Sagar (IPS), DCP Road Traffic, Jaipur and Rohit Kapoor- CEO, Food Marketplace at Swiggy, marking a collaborative commitment towards creating safer roads in the state.

The event also included the distribution of Swiggy’s new helmets among delivery partners.
