Prime Video has announced the addition of NFDC – Cinemas of India as a new add-on subscription, offering Indian audiences access to a treasure trove of landmark Indian cinema. Priced at Rs 199 per year, the subscription brings together some of the most iconic and critically acclaimed films by renowned filmmakers such as Satyajit Ray, Shyam Benegal, Mira Nair, Kalpana Lajmi, among others.

The collection spans multiple Indian languages and includes award-winning titles like Mirch Masala (Hindi), Ghare Baire (Bengali), Salaam Bombay! (Hindi), Doghi (Marathi), Jameela (Tamil), Ganashatru (Bengali), Bangarwadi (Marathi), Parinamam (Malayalam), Rudaali (Hindi), Gandhi (Hindi), Marupakkam (Tamil), Bioscope (Malayalam), Percy (Gujarati), Stri (Telugu), Mammo (Hindi), and Suraj Ka Satvan Ghoda (Hindi), to name a few.

The NFDC library features celebrated titles that have garnered both national and international acclaim. These include Gandhi (Hindi), the winner of multiple Academy, BAFTA, and Golden Globe awards, and Salaam Bombay! (Hindi), which won the Caméra d’Or and the Audience Award at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as a nomination for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film.

Other acclaimed entries in the collection include Satyajit Ray’s Agantuk (Bengali), which received the FIPRESCI Award at the Venice Film Festival and Best Feature Film at the National Film Awards; Qissa (Punjabi), which won the Netpac Award at the Toronto International Film Festival; and Paar (Hindi), a recipient of the UNESCO Award at Venice and a National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi. The selection also includes regional gems like Bioscope (Malayalam), Thodu (Telugu), Tiladaanam (Telugu), Kaliyachan (Malayalam), and others that have won National Film Awards and state honours.
