Why the campaign rocks:
MakeMyTrip’s series of ads featuring Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh are very relatable with simple storytelling. My favourite ad is “Ladka Aayega”. The brand has gone with a relatable route in ad making.
This campaign consists of three separate films, each targeting different aspects of travel frustrations. The first film focuses on international travel, highlighting a “Loved by Indians” filter to help travellers find accommodations that cater to Indian culinary tastes abroad. The second film addresses the over-spending on accommodations by featuring the duo humorously repurposing hotel amenities as gifts. The final film focuses on domestic travel, presenting a comical misunderstanding about service expectations.
The strategic use of humour to address genuine customer pain points is a strong aspect of the campaign. It effectively uses humour and celebrity influence to create a relatable message.
