Netflix is reportedly considering a bid for Formula One’s U.S. broadcasting rights starting in 2026, as the streaming giant ramps up its investment in live sports content. The move could allow Netflix to capitalise on the success of its hit docu-series Drive to Survive, which has played a key role in boosting Formula One’s global popularity by offering fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the sport.
ESPN currently holds the U.S. broadcast rights through 2025, but its exclusivity window for negotiations has now closed, opening the door for bids from other contenders. Neither ESPN, Netflix, Liberty Media, nor Formula One have commented on the situation.
Netflix has been expanding its live sports portfolio, securing high-profile events like the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing match. Earlier this year, it also struck a landmark deal exceeding $5 billion to become the exclusive home of WWE’s Raw in multiple territories.
