The Internet and Mobile Association of India’s (IAMAI) Digital Advertising Council (DAC) has named Shantanu Sirohi, CEO of Interactive Avenues, as its new Chairperson. Satyan Gajwani, Chairman of Times Internet, and Priya Choudhary, Director of Business Solutions & Insights at Google, have been appointed as Co-Chairpersons. Their tenure will span two years, during which the trio will guide the Council through a transformative phase for India’s digital advertising ecosystem.
Focus on responsible growth
Accepting his new role, Sirohi emphasised the importance of collaboration between agencies, publishers, brands, and technology providers. He noted that DAC’s mission will revolve around ensuring innovation, transparency, and effectiveness in digital advertising while prioritising customer experience. “The focus will be on promoting responsible industry growth, ensuring digital marketing strategies remain effective, and providing value for all stakeholders,” he said.
Gajwani stressed the need to build a sustainable ecosystem for publishers and content creators. He said the Council would work to ensure that creators have the necessary support to grow, enabling advertisers, publishers, and consumers to thrive together. Choudhary added that this is a “pivotal time” for India’s digital advertising sector, and highlighted the Council’s role in fostering trust and innovation. “Through collective effort and shared vision, we can unlock immense potential and create a positive impact for businesses and consumers alike,” she remarked.
Shaping India’s digital advertising future
The DAC represents one of the most dynamic segments of India’s digital economy, uniting agencies, publishers, ad-tech and mar-tech firms, as well as affiliate networks. In addition to policy engagement and industry collaboration, the Council plays a key role in thought leadership and capability-building, hosting marquee events such as the Marketing Masters Meet, Click, and Intersec.
Supported by IAMAI, which represents over 600 members, including global corporations and start-ups, the DAC is positioned to accelerate the growth of digital marketing in India. With its new leadership in place, the Council is expected to strengthen industry standards, promote responsible advertising practices, and help shape a more transparent and sustainable digital future.
