Dolby Laboratories, Inc., a global leader in immersive entertainment technology, has announced the introduction of Dolby Cinema in India, marking a significant leap in premium cinema experiences for Indian audiences. The first Dolby Cinema screens will open this year at City Pride in Pune, Allu Cineplex in Hyderabad, LA Cinema in Trichy, AMB Cinemas in Bengaluru, EVM Cinemas in Kochi, and G Cineplex in Ulikkal.

A New Standard in Cinema Experience

Dolby Cinema is designed to offer audiences an unparalleled visual and audio experience, bringing movies to life exactly as intended by filmmakers. The combination of Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos ensures exceptional picture quality with enhanced contrast, deeper blacks, and richer colors, while delivering immersive sound that flows around and above viewers.

“The launch of Dolby Cinema in India is a pivotal moment for the country’s entertainment sector,” said Michael Archer, Vice President of Worldwide Cinema Sales and Partner Management, Dolby Laboratories. “Indian audiences are passionate about movies, and Dolby Cinema is the ultimate moviegoing experience. Since the opening of the first Dolby Cinema in 2014, Dolby Cinema has grown rapidly, encompassing 35 exhibitor partners and 14 countries. This announcement underscores our commitment to advancing cinematic storytelling, working closely with filmmakers, studios, and exhibitors to deliver extraordinary entertainment experiences.”

Advancing Filmmaking in India

To support this expansion, Dolby has also strengthened its post-production infrastructure in India. In addition to 24 Dolby Atmos theatrical mix facilities, the company has collaborated with Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad to establish India’s first Dolby Vision color grading facility for cinema. This initiative equips Indian filmmakers with advanced tools to enhance their visual storytelling.

With this launch, Dolby Cinema is set to redefine how Indian audiences experience films, offering them a truly immersive and premium entertainment experience.
