Weekends are all about downtime. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Ayush Gupta, co -founder, POD Nutrition, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
1. What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
I’m quite curious and love learning about people who have excelled in their professional lives. I often listen to audiobooks and podcasts about such individuals while driving, walking to and from work, and during workouts. Another thing I’m passionate about is reaching my daily step count to maintain high NEAT (Non-exercise activity thermogenesis) levels. It’s truly a game-changer for me.
2. How do you spend your weekends?
I have one day off each week, which is Sunday since we work a six-day week. On Saturday evenings, I enjoy going to the theatre, watching plays, or attending live musicals in the city. Twice a month on Sundays, I go for day treks with my friends, and on the other two Sundays, I participate in a local marathon nearby. These activities usually finish by 11 am, so I prefer to stay in and rest for the remainder of my weekend.
3. What are your favourite gadgets?
My smartwatch that I swear by. I use it to track my steps and sleep, my earbuds that I use the entire day for calls, online meetings and even while running, and lastly, I have recently bought a high-speed blender to make my protein smoothies every day.
4. Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
I am not one for regrets or looking back; however, if I have to pick an alternate career, I would love to be a human psychologist. Observing people, studying their body language and identifying patters, these things fascinate me so much! I have read and watched so many documentaries over the years that now observing people has become by second nature.
5. Which is your favourite vacation spot?
My favourite vacation spot is a concept more than a place. A snow-clad town that is rich in local culture, where English isn’t a dominant language and where nobody knows me. It’s this specific because being a nobody in an alien land gives you a learning/perspective that no other activity ever will in your life. When I am on the ski slope, or climbing a snow mountain or struggling to start the bonfire in that town, I am completely cut off from the world. It’s almost like you unlock a side to you that you’ve never known. My thoughts are fresh and the adrenaline gives me a state of euphoria.
6. A TV show, a movie, and an ad campaign you highly recommend watching
I enjoy a mix of entertainment and information. For TV shows, I recommend ‘Dirty Money’ and ‘Broken.’ In terms of movies, ‘The Theory of Everything’ and ‘Moneyball’ are excellent choices. And for ad campaigns, I believe ‘Stranger Things x Lyft’ and ‘Nike’s Just Do It’ stand out as the best.
