Weekends are all about down time. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web-series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Sanjeev Kumar, co-founder, executive director and CEO, Spice Money, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
I have a deep passion for playing sports, particularly Football and Badminton. Engaging in sports has been a vital and enduring aspect of my life. I firmly believe that sports serve as exceptional instructors that impart valuable lessons across multiple dimensions, influencing every stage of one’s life.
How do you spend your weekends?
These days, weekends tend to feel too short for personal time. However, I make the most of the time I have from Saturday evening through Sunday evening by dedicating it to spending quality moments with my family and friends. During this time I also like watching movies.
What are your favourite gadgets?
I’m not particularly a gadgets enthusiast, which is why my iPad and phone are the only devices I own, serving both my professional and personal needs. I prefer to keep my technology choices streamlined, relying on these two versatile devices to efficiently handle a wide range of tasks, whether they’re related to work or my personal life.
Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
Since I am extremely happy and satisfied with what I am doing at Spice Money, I have not thought about this very extensively but if given a chance, I would love the chance to embrace the role of a bureaucrat. The reason for my inclination towards this path lies in my aspiration to contribute to society in a broader capacity. Becoming a bureaucrat would grant me the chance to make a meaningful impact, implement positive changes, and serve the community.
Which is your favourite vacation spot?
I really love Kashmir because of its beautiful mountains and natural scenery. I think this love comes from my time in a boarding school in Nainital, where I grew up surrounded by mountains. Growing up surrounded by such natural magnificence has become an essential part of my identity. That’s why I hold such a deep affection for places like Kashmir; they remind me of the environment I cherished during my upbringing in the mountains
A TV show, movie, and an ad campaign that you highly recommend watching.
When it comes to movies, two that truly resonate with me are “M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story” and “Chak De! India.” These films effectively bring together elements of patriotism, sportsmanship, and lessons in leadership, all presented in an engaging and entertaining format.
For ad campaigns, I’m particularly fond of Amul’s approach. Their ability to keep their brand in sync with evolving times and the changing world is truly commendable. The way Amul manages to stay aligned with the current trends while retaining its identity is something I greatly admire.
For television shows, my top pick is “Suits.” The dynamics, characters, and legal drama portrayed in the show have captured my attention and kept me engaged throughout its run. The complexities and relationships depicted in “Suits” have truly made it a standout TV series for me.
