Weekends are all about downtime. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Siddharth Devnani, co-founder and director, SoCheers, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
One of the things I like to do when I’m not working is to read a lot about upcoming tech. That’s my core passion. I also like to play and do physical activities with my son, run around or play football with him. So that’s something I prefer doing especially during my free time.
How do you spend your weekends?
One thing which I like to do on the weekends is get out of the city. I try to do this as often as possible. I feel a little grounded and reset each time I’m closer to nature. So if it’s a few hours’ drive out of the city, that’s great. If it’s a longer duration, then I pick up some more activity, but it will always be nature-linked. So whether it’s scuba diving, surfing, or paragliding, these are things I’ve typically done and prefer to do when I have longer breaks.
What are your favourite gadgets?
Because I use the screen so much at work, and reading is typically on a screen, I don’t think I have a favourite gadget beyond this. Occasionally, I end up gaming on a Nintendo Switch. Otherwise, it’s basically my iPad, laptop, and mobile combination. But yes, that’s largely for work. I don’t see too much entertainment on my screens.
Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
Maybe a farmer!
Which is your favourite vacation spot?
I don’t repeat the places I’ve been to, so I don’t think I have a favourite one. Among the places I’ve been to, my favourite in India is Shillong. I’d like to go back there someday. Another favourite is the Andamans, because it’s secluded. Internationally, I love Bali. I think it has something for everyone. In urban cities, London is beautiful, and I was pleasantly surprised by Berlin. So these are my go-to places all over the world.
A TV show, a movie, and an ad campaign you highly recommend watching
I would really recommend Panchayat to every Indian, because it is a light watch (everyone likes humour) and it also connects to the real interiors, not exaggerating, just what it is in the villages. Another one would be Avatar – The Last Air Bender, it’s a cartoon series, packed with a lot of life lessons.
