Weekends are all about downtime. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Poulomi Roy, chief marketing officer, Joy Personal Care (RSH Global), talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
- What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
Ans I don’t have free time to spend to. Having said that, I free myself to spend time reading books, watching interviews of leaders and industry experts or practicing mindfulness exercises. I like cooking once in one or two weeks. These activities help me unwind and maintain a healthy work-life balance. I deliberately avoid watching or streaming content as it can be quite addictive.
- How do you spend your weekends?
Ans: While my weekends often involve household chores and spending quality time with my loved ones, I also find moments to indulge in simple pleasures that help me unwind and recharge. Whether it’s enjoying delicious food at home or exploring new restaurants, I savor every bite. I often build Lego structures with my son, which gives me a sense of mental agility and focus. These small moments of self-care leave me feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the new week.
What are your favorite gadgets?
Ans: I use earpods frequently. If I ever decide to indulge in other gadgets, it would be a good quality Kindle for reading books.
- Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
Ans: If I were to choose another profession, it would be either in performing arts or law.
- Which is your favorite vacation spot?
Ans: In India, specific pockets of Goa have been among my favorite spots for a very long time. Amongst the places I have visited in abroad, Florence is one of my favourites.
- A TV show, a movie, and an ad campaign you highly recommend watching
Ans: Mad Men” is one of my all-time favorite shows, and I highly recommend it, especially for marketing and advertising professionals. The Shawshank Redemption” is a movie close to my heart, and I can watch it anytime. In terms of ad campaigns, it’s challenging to choose just one as there have been many great ones over the years. However, I love the iconic campaigns by Piyush Pandey, such as the Fevicol ads and the Fortune Ghar Ka Khana campaign. I also like the Nike Hijab Victory Swim campaign and Apple’s DEI campaign titled “The Greatest.”
