I consider myself lucky to have started my career just as momentous changes were unfolding in India’s economic landscape in general and investment industry in particular. The best part of my job is the constant opportunity to interact with some of the brightest and driven people in industry, finance, and investment field. Forming views and implementing them correctly in portfolios is the key challenge. There is never a dull moment.

The Weekdays

I wake up early to go for a swim before heading to the office. In office, the first thing I do is to check various indicators on Bloomberg to get an overall perspective. Research team meeting, reading sell-side notes and review/discussions with portfolio managers on various funds take up most of the typical day. Post market discussions with our distribution partners are equally important to understand how investors are thinking.

The Weekend

Typically, my weekends are used to unwind from the rigour of the week. Walking and yoga in the mornings serve as a good break from the otherwise intense workouts throughout the week. Some time each weekend is dedicated to listening to podcasts about spirituality and catching up on non-work-related reading. I also enjoy spending quality time with my family by going on walks, watching movies, or playing board games.

The Toys

Reading is an integral aspect of work as well as one of my favourite hobbies. As a result, given the considerable screen time I am exposed to, I prefer using the Amazon Kindle, whenever possible. I also find it convenient to use the Apple iPad for professional tasks.

The Logos

Over the years, both as a student of business and investing and as a user, I have come to admire Apple as a brand. I find its consistently high quality, durable franchise, and subtle but effective communication appealing.
