To revolutionise air travel in the southern region of the country, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has set the ball rolling for its mega plan to construct state-of-the-art terminal buildings at three major airports in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
The airports earmarked for transformation include Kadapa Airport in Andhra Pradesh and Hubballi & Belagavi Airport in Karnataka, promising a new era of aviation.
“Witness the dawn of a new era in the southern skies, as AAI is planning to build state-of-the-art terminal buildings at its Kadapa, Hubballi, and Belagavi airports,” the airport authority mentioned in a post on X.
Once completed, these projects are poised to propel the region’s civil aviation sector to new heights, offering enhanced services and facilities to millions of commuters annually.
Notably, Kadapa Airport’s new terminal building will be able to cater to 25 lakh passengers annually, While both Hubballi and Belagavi Airports will accommodate up to 35 lakh passengers each year.
Taking Indian aviation a notch higher
The expansion and modernisation of airport expansion play an imperative role in fostering economic growth, facilitating tourism, and improving connectivity within the region and beyond.
Andhra Pradesh’s Kadapa Airport serves as a vital gateway for travelers to the region. With the introduction of a new terminal building, the airport will enhance its capacity to handle passenger traffic and elevate the overall travel experience.
On the other hand, Karnataka’s Hubballi airport is the gateway to the UNESCO heritage site Hampi, which receives millions of visitors and pilgrimage at the holy site of Anjanadri hills – the birthplace of Lord Hanuman. Belagavi Airport also accommodates a growing number of air travelers.
As the AAI projects take shape, travelers can look forward to a more seamless and connected southern region.
