Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI airport) in a statement on Friday (April 11) announced that all flights from Delhi Airport’s Terminal 2 will shift to Terminal 1 due to maintenance. In light of major maintenance and upgradation work at IGI airport Terminal 2, airlines have begun issuing travel advisories to inform passengers of changes in flight operations. Terminal 2 will shut next week for maintenance and will also undergoing essential runway upgrades.
“Effective 15th April 2025 (0001 hrs), all flights currently operating from Terminal 2 will shift to Terminal 1 until further notice. This change is due to planned maintenance work at Terminal 2, which will remain non-operational during this period. IndiGo issues travel advisory
IndiGo on Thursday night announced that all flights previously scheduled from Terminal 2 (T2) will now depart from Terminal 1 (T1), starting April 15, 2025, until further notice.
In its advisory, IndiGo has urged passengers to check their terminal and flight status on the official website before heading to the airport, citing possible schedule changes.
“In view of a planned maintenance activity, flights previously scheduled from Delhi Terminal 2 have now been reassigned to Terminal 1 starting April 15, 2025. We kindly request you to check the terminal details and your flight status on our website before heading to the airport, as there may be changes to flight schedules as well. Rest assured, we are working diligently to ensure a seamless transition and a smooth travel experience for you. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,” IndiGo said in a post on X.

Air India issues travel advisory
Air India has also released a statement highlighting that runway upgradation work at the Delhi airport is expected to continue till July 2025. The airline warned that while efforts will be made to minimise inconvenience, flight schedules may be impacted.
“Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, is undergoing upgrade of runways. This initiative, as per DIAL, is expected to continue till July 2025. While we will make every effort to minimise inconvenience, there could be occasions when your flight schedules get affected. The maintenance activity, led by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), aims to improve infrastructure and passenger experience at one of India’s busiest airports. Additionally, the airport is upgrading its runways, which may cause some flight delays or rescheduling.
‘Delhi airport aims for more international connectivity’
Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) is projected to handle over 24 million passengers annually in the next 1–2 years, up from the current 22 million, including 5.5 million connecting passengers, according to DIAL CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar.
To support this growth, the airport is working to enhance connectivity to the Asia Pacific region, especially Australia and New Zealand, and has signed an MoU with Auckland Airport. With connections to 70 international destinations, IGIA aims to become a global aviation gateway.
