The flight operations at the Kolkata airport resumed after 21 hours on Monday, May 27, an official said. The operations were suspended before the Cyclone Remal was to make a landfall in West Bengal.

The last flight prior to the suspension departed from Kolkata airport at 12.16 pm on May 26.

Kolkata airport resumes flight ops

Today, the first plane departed at 8:59 am. This flight was operated by IndiGo to Port Blair. Meanwhile, the first flight to land in Kolkata was SpiceJet’s flight from Guwahati. As per an Airports Authority of India (AAI). The flight landed at 9:50 am.

However, sources said that while the flight operations have resumed, it will take some more time for things to go back to normal.

Yesterday, May 26, about  394 flights that were scheduled for arrival or departure including domestic and international flights were suspended from Sunday noon to Monday 9 am. This included 170 domestic tentative departures and 26 international tentative arrivals.
