As part of its protest against the Setusamudram project, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Wednesday trained its gun at Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, who, it thought, was solely responsible for the proposed plans to destroy ?Ram Sethu? and hurting sentiment of crores of Hindus by filing the controversial affidavit negating the existence of Lord Ram in the Supreme Court.

??In every country, the soul of the nation resides in something. In the US, the soul of Americans is in dollar, whereas in India, our souls reside in spiritualism and Lord Ram is the expression of that spiritualism,?? VHP president Ashok Singhal said adding that because of Congress chief?s Italian upbringing, she is not able to comprehend the seat of India?s soul.

Chalking out a plan of fortnight-long marches across the country to protest the Sethu Samudram project and mobilise support for opposing the project, Singhal said, ??Country is at a cross-road and Hindus have now awakened. Days are numbered for those who denounce Hindu faith for their own political gain.??

The VHP also alleged that the proposed ?destruction of the Ramsethu? was ??stage-managed by the UPA at the behest of western powers to drain away Thorium reserves and convert Indian territory into an international maritime zone.??

The protest ?marches? would be simultaneously conducted in every district of the country from September 27. ??The marches would be strictly led by saints and we do not wish to give it a political colour. The agitation is being held under the Rameshwaram Ramsetu Raksha Manch,?? Singhal said.
