To extend her successful social engineering experiments in Uttar Pradesh to the national level, chief minister Mayawati on Friday argued in favour of extending reservation for poor among upper castes as also quota in private sector and ?other sectors? for SCs and STs.

She urged the Prime Minister to bring the entire reservation policy under the 9th schedule. by amending the Constitution, so that it gets the immunity from judicial scrutiny.

?A large number of people of the upper castes, not only in UP but all over the country, are leading a miserable life due to lack of special assistance. Such people should be provided benefits of reservation policy on the basis of their economic condition,? she said. These people should be provided reservation in public, private and other sectors, she added.

The BSP supremo, who met the Prime Minister on Friday, wanted that the quota of SCs, STs and OBCs be filled all over the country according to the reservation policy.

On actor Amitabh Bachchan?s controversial farmland issue, Mayawati hinted that even if the Bollywood superstar surrenders the land, which he claims to own, legal proceedings would not be dropped.

?We have not received any letter from Bachchan. When he is not the owner of the land (in Barabanki), how can he donate it?, Mayawati remarked.
