In a sharp contrast to National Security Advisor MK Narayanan?s comments on Islamabad?s attitude towards the Mumbai terror probe, external affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday pointed out that India was yet to receive any official response from Pakistan.
When asked about Narayanan?s comments on a TV interview, the external affairs minister told mediapersons that, ??That he (Narayanan) has stated in his own way. But the fact of the matter is that after they (Pakistan) received material from us, we have not received any official communication (about the probe) from them.??
On Sunday, in an interview to a news channel, the NSA had said that Pakistan ??appeared to be taking things seriously and at least they are proceeding in a manner that one would expect an investigating agency to proceed, asking queries and not taking everything that is given at the face value that has been given.??
Narayanan had also claimed that Pakistan had reverted on the Mumbai attacks dossier, asking questions to which answers were being given.
In fact, the external affairs minister had contradicted Narayanan?s remarks on Sunday itself when he underscored India?s mounting anger with Pakistan for not responding to 26/11 dossier through proper diplomatic channels.
The minister?s statement on Tuesday has come on the day Pakistan summoned its high commissioner in India Shahid Malik to Islamabad for a briefing on the outcome of Islamabad?s probe into the Mumbai terror attacks that claimed more than 170 lives.
