The government on Friday said that the Supreme Court?s upholding of government?s final say on the terms of gas sale between a contract producer and a customer is unlikely to jeopardise state-owned NTPC?s chances of getting gas from RIL at $2.34 mmBtu, which is lower than the government fixed price for RIL?s K-G D6 gas. Like Anil Ambani-promoted RNRL, NTPC, too, is embroiled in a legal battle with RIL over supply of gas at a price lower than the government fixed price for KG D6 gas of $ 4.2 mmBtu. The matter is subjudice now at the Bombay High Court. Additional solicitor general Mohan Parasaran told reporters that since NTPC is a state-owned entity, the government could apply a different yardstick while fixing the price for RIL?s supply to the power major.
