India and Japan on Monday announced the conclusion of negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (Cepa) that will boost bilateral trade and investment, decided to arrive at a mutually satisfactory agreement for civil nuclear cooperation at an early date and draw their neighbour ? a rising China, with which both have land boundary and maritime issues, respectively ? into a more productive and open dialogue process.
In his 45-minute talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Japan?s PM Naoto Kan spent at least 10 minutes discussing the growth of the Chinese economy, its modern military abilities and its rise as a global power.
