After Telangana leaders were snubbed by the Congress high command on Monday and clearly told they should not keep visiting New Delhi to meet senior leaders, at least 25 Congress MLAs from Telangana have decided to move the Supreme Court seeking a direction to the Assembly Speaker that their resignations be accepted. The MLAs are under pressure from their constituencies to prove that their resignations were not a drama and they genuinely support the agitation for a separate state.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) convenor M Kodandaram warned all the MLAs from the region that they should press for acceptance of their resignations if the Centre did not come out with a clear-cut announcement Telangana.

Addressing the members of the JAC on a relay fast for the 12th day , Kondandaram said there was no change in the stand taken by the JAC along with major political parties that all should quit by January 28. He assured those resigning that they would win again when fresh elections are held. If the elected representatives did not adhere to the collective decision of the JAC, the people of Telangana would decide on their political future, he warned.

Meanwhile, senior Congress legislators K Jana Reddy and R Damodar Reddy left for New Delhi to persuade the party high command to take an early decision on the issue. The Congress high command had advised the party?s elected representatives not to come to Delhi as it would further complicate the issue.

In another development, the Telangana Research Scholars? Forum threatened to disrupt the Indian Premier League matches in Hyderabad during March and April alleging it would divert attention from the movement for a separate state.

The inaugural function of the IPL-III was planned to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium here but has already been shifted to Mumbai after Telangana supporters disrupted a Twenty20 match. The forum stated that the IPL tournament would divert attention from the ongoing agitation. Forum secretary Rudra Reddy said they would disrupt the matches in Hyderabad to register their protest.
