With the CBI for the first time directly accusing former Telecom minister A Raja of involvement in the 2G scam, a court on Friday remanded him and Siddharth Behura and R K Chandolia in five-day police custody.

The accused is highly influential and there is every likelihood of him tampering with the evidence... He is required to be put under sustained custodial interrogation so that real facts and elements of the conspiracy can be unearthed, said the CBI adding that Raja gave evasive replies during his interrogation . Charging Raja, his former personal secretary Chandolia and ex-telecom secretary Behura under Section 120B of the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act, CBI counsel said the accused entered into a criminal conspiracy with private persons and abused their official position in granting LoI for UAS licences to a few selected companies.
