The finance minister has rightly said that Budgets only give outlays and don?t necessarily ensure outcomes (?There?s nothing called election Budget?, Jan 3). Every year, Budget fever grips the nation around this time. Yet, the reality remains that, however good the Budget provisions are, they would remain meaningless unless governance and delivery systems improve substantially.

Your report (?Car sales shift to top gear?, Jan 3) wrongly states that there is worker trouble at Honda Siel Cars India?s (HSCI) manufacturing unit, resulting in a dip in its sales and hampering capacity expansion plans. We would like to clarify that the manufacturing facility at Greater Noida was closed for 15 days due to capacity expansion work, which will increase the plant?s annual production capacity from the current 60,000 units to 1,00,000 units. There is no worker problem at HSCI and the expansion work is going on as per schedule.
