AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday visited Kamla Devi, pradhan of Majhwara, whose husband Ram Kumar Yadav was killed, allegedly by BSP MLA Chandrabhadra Singh Sonu and his brother Yashbhadra Singh Monu, and advised her to move court for a CBI inquiry into the case.

As news of Rahuls visit spread in the Dhanpatganj area, a large number of villagers gathered outside the house of Kamla Devi.

During the about 20-minute-long interaction with Kamla, Rahul asked her about the entire sequence of events. Kamla told him about how Sonu Singh and his men had threatened her to withdraw her candidature. She said that despite her complaint, the state government had given the MLA a clean chit. She further requested Rahul Gandhi to arrange a meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi, so that she could personally request for a CBI inquiry into the murder of her husband.

I requested him to arrange for a meeting with Sonia Gandhi and he has assured me for the same. I also requested him for a CBI probe into the incident as I do not trust the state government and he has assured me that he will do whatever he can, Kamla told media after Rahul Gandhi left her house in Majhwara village.

Amit Kumar, nephew of Ram Kumar Yadav, said, He suggested we should approach the government first but then he said that the state government would not do it. Later, he suggested that we should move the court and he will do the best he can to ensure justice.
