Ashok Leyland Ltd (ALL) has lined up a slew of products to be launched in the Indian market. This would include the 35-tonne tractor with in-line fuel injection pump, said Rajive Saharia, executive director (marketing) of ALL.

Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, he said, “the company is already in the 49-tonne tractor segment with the 4921. The tractor has, in fact, set a clear benchmark in that category, in terms of performance. Now, inspired by the success of the multi axle vehicle-2214 Super which was launched in January, we plan to introduce 35-tonne tractor-3516 with in-line fuel injection pump. The product will be introduced in a month’s time”. With the new product offerings, the company is looking at an sales volume of 80,000 units in the domestic market, by the end of the current fiscal.

He was here in the city to inaugurate the state-of-the-art service infrastructure of Automotive Manufacturers Pvt Ltd in Cyberabad. Automotive Manufacturers has developed a service facility exclusively to cater to the needs of Ashok Leyland’s customers. The facility has come up in about 5 acres of land with an investment of Rs 4 crore, excluding the land cost.

Talking about the overall commercial vehicle market, Rajive said there has been a marginal slow down in the industry because of the huge increase in the input costs especially steel. This saw an increase in the price of the vehicles and it was accepted by the customers in the market. “The interest rate hikes which we see now could be a dampener in the days to come. But, with the growing demand from the construction and mining sector for tippers and from the passenger vehicles segment for buses, ALL will be able to hold on to its sales numbers during the current fiscal,” he said.
