As a part of the first phase of the Swami Vivekananda Youth Employment Week, chief minister Narendra Modi handed over appointment letters to 13,079 youths of Saurashtra and Kutch regions, in Rajkot on Monday. These youths will be absorbed in private firms.
Under the first phase, around 65,000 youths of the state will be given jobs in private firms. The CM will attend similar functions in Vadodara on April 10, Ahmedabad on April 12 and in Surat on April 13.
Speaking on the occasion, the Modi said the recruitment campaign had been organised as a part of the celebrations marking the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. ?Through this campaign, the state government aims at motivating youths so that they imbibe Swamiji?s message, prove their inner strength and work for taking their country ahead,? he said.
The state found the ITI courses were very important in providing technical and professional skills to the youth. Gujarat had set up 275 ITIs, which had increased to 1,054 in the last decade. The budget for skill development programmes was R 107 crore in the past, which had reached R 525 crore today.
