Viacom 18 to launch entertainment channel in July

Bangkok, May 6: : Viacom 18, a 50:50 joint venture of Viacom and TV 18, is planning to launch a general entertainment channel 'Colors' in July.

"The launch of 'Colors' would make Viacom 18 one of the strongest entertainment Networks in India. Viacom 18 already have its TV and filmed entertainment offerings via MTV, Nick, VH1 and Studio18 and now it is entering into the Hindi entertainment package," Colors Chief Executive Officer Rajesh Kamat said.

"Colors will give variety of programmes for different age groups with the entire spectrum of emotions. The programmes will give feel of fantasy and the reality bites to the viewers," Colors Programming Head Ashvini Yardi said.

It promises to deliver fear as well as love to viewers. Action hero Akshay Kumar hosted 'Khatron Ke Khiladi', would be the biggest action show on the channel with 13 models taking part in it.

Talking about the show Akshay said, "Fear is in everyone's mind but I think women are more stronger than men to tackle it. The show would be a game of highest level of physical and mental challenge and 13 beautiful daring women will take on biggest challenges of their lives in the show".

The models include Yana Gupta, Aditi Govtrikar, Pooja Bedi, Sonali Kulkarni, Tapur Chatterjee, Tupur Chatterjee, Sayali Bhagat, Nethra Raghuraman, Anjana Sukjani, Dipannita Sharma, Payal Rohtagi and Meghna Naidu. The show would be shot entirely in South Africa for over a month.
