In a move aimed at positioning the United States at the forefront of global artificial intelligence (AI) innovation, President-elect Donald Trump has named Sriram Krishnan as Senior Policy Advisor for AI at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. The announcement was made on Truth Social, where Trump expressed confidence in Krishnan’s expertise and leadership.
“Sriram Krishnan will focus on ensuring continued American leadership in AI and shaping AI policy across government,” Trump stated. “He will work closely with David Sacks and the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.”
Krishnan, 41, acknowledged the appointment via social media, and wrote, “I’m honored to serve our country and ensure continued American leadership in AI.”
Who is Sriram Krishnan?
Krishnan brings a wealth of experience to the role. A General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz until recently, he has been a personal investor in leading companies such as SpaceX, Figma, and Scale.ai. His career includes leadership roles at Meta, Twitter/X and Microsoft, where he was a founding member of Windows Azure.
Krishnan’s appointment has been widely applauded. Sanjeev Joshipura, Executive Director of Indiaspora, praised him as an “insightful thinker” and highlighted his unique ability to blend public policy, international affairs and technology.
“His exceptional qualities will stand him in good stead as he serves the nation in this critical role,” Joshipura said, adding that Indiaspora looks forward to engaging closely with Krishnan.
Krishnan’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology from Anna University. Beyond his professional accolades, he and his wife, Aarthi Ramamurthy, co-host The Aarthi and Sriram Show, a podcast exploring technology, entrepreneurship, and culture.

This announcement comes amidst a series of high-profile nominations by Trump. Mark Burnett has been named Special Envoy to the United Kingdom, tasked with enhancing US-UK ties in trade, investment, and culture. Meanwhile, Herschel Walker has been nominated as Ambassador to the Bahamas, and former Georgia Senator David Perdue as Ambassador to China.
Perdue’s nomination, in particular, sheds light on Trump’s strategy for maintaining peace and fostering productive relations with China, leveraging Perdue’s extensive international business experience.
