Convicted earlier this year of fatally drugging a model and her friend in 2021, 42-year-old Hollywood producer David Brian Pearce was hit with a shocking sentence on Wednesday, October 29 (US time).

As per the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, he was sentenced to 146 years to life in state prison, with Deputy District Attorney Seth Carmack telling jurors that he drugged the victims to “facilitate the sexual assault.” He has also been ordered to register as a lifetime sex offender.

Carmack went on to label him a “rapist” and “murderer,” months after Pearce was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the fentanyl overdose death of Christy Giles (24) and her architect pal, Hilda Cabrales-Arzola (26). The heart-rending charges against the man don’t end there, as the district attorney’s office detailed that David Brian was even convicted of rape and other sexual assaults that targeted 7 other women between the years 2007 and 2021.

Who is David Pearce?

The self-proclaimed “entertainment professional” and supposed “producer,” who appears to have no production credits, was identified as a “serial rapist” by LA district attorney Nathan Hochman at the time of his conviction.

According to his IMDb mini biography, Pearce got his start as an actor on the wildly popular early 2000’s show Dawson’s Creek at the age of 16. Thereafter, he went on to land his position as a season regular on the TV series’ spin-off called “Young Americans.” Yet another Warner Bros show called “D.C” followed after that.

He eventually switched to the director’s seat after reportedly auditioning for UCLA’s school of Theatre Film and Television. With the severely competitive institution handing him his acceptance letter, Pearce first pursues an acting major, which he switched out for film. The change led him to directing his first documentary with comedy icon Jay Leno.

David’s name is also associated with the small production company called Granite Rock Films, which he founded. The banner mostly stuck to backing independent releases instead of an affiliation with major titles. Although Pearce appears to have long promoted himself, he lacks any high-profile credits, with his identity largely deemed synonymous to the industry’s dark/glamorous party life.

According to a New York Post report, his acquaintances mostly saw him as a B-list nightclub party promoter, often seen pictured with reality celebs in Los Angeles and Las Vegas clubs. An LA nightlife enthusiast described him to the outlet as a “fake producer,” and a “total scumbag cheeseball and druggie.” Similarly, a longtime nightclub doorman branded him a “con artist and a fraud.”

At a January hearing, LA County Deputy District Attorney Catherine Mariano said the man jailed since December 2021 on rape charges “frequently drugs women and sexually abuses them.”

David Pearce sentence in fentanyl overdose deaths

According to the LA County District Attorney’s office, Pearce and his co-defendant Brandt Osborn met the late Giles and Cabrales-Arzola at a Los Angeles warehouse party on November 13, 2021. About two hours later, both women went to the so-called producer’s Beverly Hills apartment along with the male duo. At his residence, Pearce is said to have given both ladies gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) and fentanyl, leading to their fatal overdose.

However, it was also revealed that Cabrales-Arzola run gup a rideshare service within about 35 minutes of arriving at the residence so they could leave. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, with Pearce ultimately carried Giles out his apartment about 11 hours later and Cabrales-Arzola about an hour and a half after that. Both victims were dropped off at two different local hospitals. Giles had already died by the time she arrived the hospital. Her friend, on the other hand, was resuscitated, but she died 11 days later, just a day before her 27th birthday.

An investigation into the case revealed that the Hollywood man had committed numerous drug-aided sexual assaults. Seven victims, other than the two now deceased, testified at the trial against him. One such victim of the predator was 25-year-old Lauren Craven, a heroic police officer who passed away after helping car crash victims days before Pearce was sentenced.
