The Ohio home of US Vice President JD Vance was attacked on Monday — with security personnel detaining one suspect. The Secret Service took 26-year-old William DeFoor into custody after he walked onto the property and “damaged” four windows and a car belonging to the Vances. The Second Family was not in Ohio when the attack took place.

What do we know about the attacker?

According to a FOX 19 Now report, DeFoor has been charged with one count each of obstructing official business, criminal damaging or endangering, criminal trespass and vandalism. The Secret Service had called for the Cincinnati police at 12:15 a.m. after seeing someone “running eastbound” from the house on East Walnut Hills.

Officials are now investigating whether the suspect was targeting Vance or his family. Sources told CNN they did not believe DeFoor had entered the house. Roads surrounding the vice president’s home had reportedly been closed for several days and only reopened on Sunday afternoon.

“The US Secret Service is coordinating with the Cincinnati Police Department and the US Attorney’s Office as charging decisions are reviewed,” multiple reports quoted the Secret Service as saying.
