US President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Monday and said that he was aware of the brutal beheading of Chandra Nagamallaiah in Dallas, Texas. Trump described him as a “well respected person” of the community who was “brutally beheaded” in front of his wife and son. “I am aware of the terrible reports regarding the murder of Chandra Nagamallaiah, a well respected person in Dallas, Texas, who was brutally beheaded, in front of his wife and son, by an ILLEGAL ALIEN from Cuba who should have never been in our Country,” the US President wrote.
He claimed the attacker was an undocumented immigrant from Cuba who had a criminal history, including child sex abuse and theft, but had been released back into the US because Cuba refused to take him back. Trump said such incidents would not be tolerated under his leadership and stressed that his administration, including top security officials, was committed to making America safe.
“This individual was previously arrested for terrible crimes, including child sex abuse, grand theft auto, and false imprisonment, but was released back into our Homeland under incompetent Joe Biden because Cuba did not want such an evil person in their Country,” he said.
Trump further added that the suspect, who is now in custody, will face first-degree murder charges and the toughest possible punishment. “Rest assured, the time for being soft on these Illegal Immigrant Criminals is OVER under my watch!”
He further added, “This criminal, who we have in custody, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law. He will be charged with murder in the first degree!”
Suspect’s criminal history and immigration status
The accused, now in custody, is 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, who has been charged with capital murder and is currently in Dallas County Jail. US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has placed a federal detainer on him, as he is a Cuban national who entered the country illegally.
Court records show that Cobos-Martinez had a long history of crimes, including child sexual abuse and car theft among other things. Although he was ordered to be deported, Cuba refused to take him back. Because of this, he was released from ICE custody in January 2025.
