Thanksgiving vs Black Friday: From Walmart to Target – Which stores will be open?

Following the year-round tradition, most US retailers and grocery stores will be remain closed on Thanksgiving Day 2025. But there’s no reason to worry, as most of them will be unlock their doors again the very next day for the massive Black Friday shopping bash on November 28. And so, it’s time shoppers ready their last-minute lists and rush to their nearby stores ahead of peak holiday season.

Here are some key reminders for the upcoming Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping race.

When will Target, Walmart, Costco open for Black Friday?

All three major retailers Target, Costco and Walmart will keep their doors shut for the holiday.

However, the directive will immediately be reversed on the biggest sale day of the year in the US – Black Friday.

With the shopping holiday falling on November 28, the day after Thanksgiving, Target stores in America will open at 6 am local time. The much-sought-after retailer kicked off its week-long Black Friday deals on November 23, with the same running through Saturday, November 29.

Staying on the same page as Target, Walmart will reopen on Friday at 6 am as well.

Costco’s Black Friday store hours, however, will start on Friday at 9 am for executive members and 10 am for Gold and Business members, according to Le High Valley.
